Castiel's IOO Word Challenge Week #19

Untitled
Whistling wind blew past my ear in steady paces. Hastily, I lit a candle, frantic for warmth. With darkness approaching, fear spread through me like an enraged forest fire, and the only sound was the ravenous growls of my stomach. A howling gust of air blew in my direction as the flame flickered and then went out. Famished, frigid, and fatigued, my eyes shut, and darkness arrived in the empty crevasses of my heart.

Castiel's 100 Word Challenge Week #18

 The sunset

The crisp air pricked my skin with just the right amount of coldness. The smell of campfire swam through the field, bringing a sense of home and hearth upon me. I sat in my pyjamas on the vibrant damp grass, as the last few moments of the sun set lingered in the air, giving the sky an eerie orange glow. At last, after what seemed like a decade, lighting and thunder broke the silence, and soon I was forced to go back inside. For it had gotten too cold to stay.

Castiel's 100 Word Challenge Week #17

                                                                      Falling

The suspending stairwell was all I could see, as it looped around the sun, and back down to a lake, with shimmering water that looked as if a thousand sapphires had replaced it. Temptation pooled inside me, as I took the first step. Pondering how the view may look from the top, I took another step, and another, and another. Soon I was so high it was as if I wasn't even on earth anymore. Abruptly, the stairs broke and soon I was falling. As the ocean got closer, I realized this was the end.
Gasping, I woke up from my fast paced dream.

                                                                     The Spelling Bee
"Okay, this is the one word that determines whether you win the 121st annual spelling bee. Are you ready for your final word?"

"Yes"

"Okay your word is 'Suddenly.'"

Heart pounding, and sweat dripping down my face, the judges watched with authentic anticipation, and my mind went completely blank! With all the pressure directed towards me, my mind had just shut down. But I still had to try, so I started...

"Um... Okay, 'Suddenly' S... U.. DD... E... N... L... EE!

"Sorry, that's incorrect, but you can try again next year."

Head bowed in disappointment, I walked off the stage.

                                                               The Trashcan
I am trash. I wasn't always though. Once, I was a human, as arrogant as one too. It was my arrogance that was my downfall, this all happened because one day I threw away my plastic bottle into the garbage instead of recycling it.  As a punishment of that irrational decision, I am now a lonely trash can on the side of a drab, vast road with no absolute end, hoping one day some careless person will drop a piece of plastic into me and I can trade places with them and finally forgive myself.

                                                                           The Box
The box in the back of the room filled me with interest and intrigued me with every second I spent staring at it. What could possibly be in it? Vast amounts of colourful crustaceans?  A colony of colossal cucumbers? I didn't really know, but I was sure that I had to find out. Anticipation, anxiousness, and excitement all burned inside of me as I sauntered towards the box. I put my hand in the box and felt disappointment crawl up my spine, for in it was nothing but a small thumbtack.

                                                         Polymerase Chain Reaction
The pain was insufferable, I had to find away to stop this from happening. Hoping to stop the red liquid from seeping through, I used my hands to apply pleasure on the gaping wound in my chest, but the spot just grew and grew. Now I knew I had to get to the hospital or this blood from my chest wouldn't stop pouring out.
My friend shook her head at me, "Stop being so dramatic," she said, "It's just ketchup."

Penance
I was once like them. Tall, still, the sun shining off my ebony complexion giving me a glorious gleam. Much like them, I would stand around day to day conversing with my fellow peers, all whom were like me but at the same time looked as if they came from across the world. But that was all long before I stopped abiding by the rules, stopped caring. Long before I was cast out from being one of those absolute ideals. Now I am just a mere bush, beside a trio of impeccable statues. Maybe if I truly wanted to keep my position, I would’ve worked harder to follow the decree.

What Happens When I Try and Save The World, Again

The cries of the civilians echoed through the city as I swooped in to defeat a fifty feet tall, weasel-like superhuman. Man, sometimes I just wished the humans would shut up! It was bad enough that I had to, yet again, save their lives, I really didn't need a crowd of ordinary people cheering me on for every single thing I do.  How would you feel if a band of obnoxious rats cheered every time you tried to do your normal, everyday job, and then screamed when the smallest piece of dust comes floating towards them? Finishing the enemy off in a single blow, I realized that I was done putting up with bystanders watching everything I do, it was time that I destroyed them too.

Death of a Soldier
April 22, 1915. The second battle of Ypres had commenced, and it felt as if I would never breath fresh air again. Everywhere we’d flee Mustard Gas just seemed to materialize in massive clouds of thick green fog. Swimming through the mist while simultaneously covering my mouth and nose, I managed to maneuver past the gas as swiftly as a dancer. The fumes cleared and I came face to face to trench warfare. Only then did I realize that I was in a toxic situation, and it was not very likely that I would come out of this alive.

                                                                        Lucky Pencil

With my lucky pencil, no test could defeat me. The only problem was, I couldn’t find it. I had searched everywhere but apparently, the universe just didn’t want me to succeed on this test. Atlas, I reached the one room I hadn’t yet searched, the garage. Of course there was no possible chance a pencil would hidden beneath an array of work tools and grime, but I decided to give it a chance. The door opened and there it was, my dad’s lucky hammer, my bike, the earring my mom lost two years ago and every random piece of matter you could think of.  My pencil, however, was not among the vast piles of unnecessary items. Great, I thought, I am bound to fail the test.

The Surprise

The dark hallway lay before her. With every step she took the air around her grew colder. A whisper in her ear, a shiver on her neck. The dim lights cast an eerie glow as she approached room 107. The door creaked open as she walked up to an area enclosed by darkness. A shuffling sound emerged from the back of the room, fear forced her to stay planted on the ground. Suddenly, the lights flickered on and she was shocked to see all of her friends and family standing around her.
“Surprise!” They yelled in unison as confetti poured onto her.

Castiel's 100 WC Week #5

The burning embers rampaged through the charred apartment. I climbed the roof, ran through the attic, and cascaded down the stairwells. It felt as if I was going everywhere at once. People screamed through locked rooms, and stumbled in corridors, desperate for a way out.  I found my way to a room untouched by me. Instantly, an aura of light filled the proximity, I spotted a group of people hunched in a corner, fear smeared across their faces as I approached.  Suddenly, I am forced back by a burst of cold water. And I, the raging fire, am put out.

Castiel's 100 Word Challenge Week #4

Adding an extra lock to secure the “special package” hidden in the back room,  I checked my treasured watch and decided to head home. But later that day, I was called back to the store.   Shards of fragmented glass were splayed on the ground and amongst the carnage and havoc lay a single object that now determined the future of me; my prized watch. Bewildered, I spotted a news reporter speaking:
“Local jewellery shop worker is caught stealing $25,000 worth of diamonds.”
Fear strikes into me as I realize that I was being framed for stealing the “special package.”

100 Word Challenge Week#3

The Mountain Expedition

20 minutes had passed and the red team had started to catch up. Racing to reach the top of the mountain, my team swung our pick axes hard against the collapsing, crumbling rock. Rain drenched our clothes making me, once again, regret not bringing an umbrella. Not that I’d be able to hold it anyways. In these harsh, howling winds it probably would’ve floated away the moment I had taken it out. Frigid rain continued to shower down on us, as we climbed towards the finish line with every bit of willpower that we had.

100 Word Challenge Week #2

Way to go Mom! It just had to be soup and pierogi day that you didn't pack me a lunch, didn't it? I thought as the malicious lunch lady plopped a steaming bowl of thick, tomato soup in my hands. "It smells like rat livers," I mumbled as I joined the queue for the totally over appreciated, overpriced pierogies. Suddenly, with the same amount of refinement as a toad, I tripped over my shoelaces and plunged to the ground. Soup covered my already red face making me look like a immense strawberry. Oh yeah, I thought, this is totally going to make the school newsletter.

100 Word Challenge by Castiel

Confessions of a Cupcake

“Stop climbing me!” I say as I feel a tug on my protective paper. Of course, no such luck. People just don’t seem to understand that cinnamon cupcakes have rights just as much as the chocolate ones do. Does my red paper and intense cinnamon flavour seem warm and welcoming to you? Does my cinnamon stick and bundle of marshmallows come off as kind and delicious? Suddenly, my senses become aware as I am jabbed with something sharp, like a fork. I then realize that the climbers have reached the top with intentions of devouring me alive.
